Upon recommendation from the Alabama Association of REALTORS®, the Baldwin REALTORS® Board of Directors voted on Saturday, March 28, to follow guidelines ordered by Governor Ivey and suspend the open house IDX feeds until April 17, 2020.
Additionally and in light of Governor Ivey's direction, both NAR and AAR are strongly recommending no open houses be held at this time.
Due to the suspended feed, the Paragon system will cease to display open houses as an option in the database or in the IDX feed during this time. Any open houses scheduled already in the system will be cancelled.
On Friday, Governor Ivey issued further guidance and an updated public health edict that ordered “non-essential” businesses, venues, and activities shall be closed to non-employees or not take place. The real estate industry was not included in this “non-essential” list. In short, real estate business and activities can continue as they are now, without the syndication of open houses.
However, at all times, real estate activities must strictly adhere to the guidelines set forward by the Alabama Department of Public Health:
“All non-work related gatherings of 10 persons or more, or non-work related gatherings of any size that cannot maintain a consistent six-foot distance between persons, are prohibited. Employers shall take all reasonable steps to meet these standards for employees and customers.”
For the health and safety of South Alabama home-buyers, home-sellers, and REALTORS® this order gives a blanket guidance to companies.
